What usually counts as urgent

Some plumbing problems cannot wait until morning. A pipe that has burst, water that will not stop running, a toilet overflowing onto the floor, or a drain backing up into the property all need attention quickly, and the priority is limiting the damage while help is arranged.

  • A burst or split pipe, or water escaping and not stopping
  • A leak that is spreading quickly or bringing down a ceiling
  • A toilet or cistern overflowing onto the floor
  • A drain backing up and flooding a floor area
  • No water supply to the property at all
  • A water heater leaking, sparking, or smelling of burning
  • Water pooling near electrical fittings or a distribution board

What the visit may involve

Contact is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you call or message, the aim is to understand the problem, talk you through what to do in the meantime, and confirm what can be arranged and when.

  • We take the details of the problem, the location, and the access situation
  • We talk you through immediate steps, such as isolating the water supply if it is safe to do so
  • We confirm what can be arranged, and how and when it will be communicated
  • Charges that apply are confirmed before any work begins
  • Where the problem is beyond plumbing, such as a gas or electrical fault, we say so and direct you to the right trade

What to know

  • 24/7 contact availability does not by itself guarantee immediate dispatch, a specific arrival time, or a fixed repair time. Those are confirmed when you make contact, based on the situation at that time.
  • We do not publish an emergency response time, because we have no verified figure to publish.
  • After-hours charges have not been supplied. If a surcharge applies, it is confirmed before work begins.
  • Where the fault sits in a shared riser or a common line, the building management may need to be involved.

What to tell us

Be as specific as you can about what you are seeing. It makes a real difference to what can be arranged.

  • What is happening, and whether water is still running or escaping
  • Your full address, unit number, and any access instructions
  • Whether you have been able to shut off the water supply
  • Whether the problem is close to electrical fittings or a distribution board
  • A callback number, in case the line drops
  • A number to call back on, in case the line drops.

Emergency Plumbing questions

Do you really answer around the clock?

Contact is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. What is available at a given moment depends on the situation, so we confirm that when you get in touch rather than promising a time in advance.

How quickly can someone get here?

We do not publish a response time, and we will not invent one. What we can do is discuss the problem, tell you what can be arranged, and keep you informed as that is confirmed.

What should I do while I wait?

Shut off the water supply at the main valve or the nearest isolation valve if you can reach it safely. Move belongings away from the water, and avoid switching electrical appliances on or off near standing water. If there is any sign of a gas leak, leave the area and contact the relevant emergency service first.

Is there an extra charge at night or on public holidays?

After-hours charges have not been supplied, so we cannot state them here. If a surcharge applies to your visit, it will be confirmed with you before any work begins.
